_ Mondays in Lent, beginning on February 27th.

     In our imaginations, we carry the shapes and the dreams of the world as we would like it to be.  We hold visions of what be believe is life’s promise.  Whether we are thinking about our own fulfilment, or about how our taxes are spent or who we vote for at an election, all these depend on what we believe the world is really like and what is possible for it to become.

From the beginning to the end, the Bible presents what the world would look like, if we chose to form it in the image of God. 

Our creation myths speak of a world which is orderly and not chaotic, which is gift and blessing, rather than being formed out of  violence.  The prophets demanded that the world is just, and looks after the poor.  Jesus of Nazareth taught an alternative political reality which he calls the Kingdom of God, and the Book of Revelation presents a vision of a new heaven and a new earth.

     This year’s Lent series looks at five contemporary worlds, and their ability to shape our imaginations for good or ill.

Evesham Fairtrade Fortnight
February 26th - March 10th

Evesham gained Fair Trade Town status in 2007 and now, five years on, it’s time to expand our activities. FT Fortnight runs from Feb. 26th to March 10th with the theme ‘Take a Step in 2012’, and on March 10th we are celebrating FT in Evesham with a Fair Trade Fair at the Methodist Church, bringing together a wide of range of FT suppliers based in and around our area.
