 The Five Marks of a Healthy Church - see the Project Plan here

Picture

We recently ran an exercise within All Saints to look at how we measure up under the five marks of a healthy church. These marks, were formulated by the Anglican Consultative Council and have been endorsed by General Synod and are:

1.to proclaim the good news of the kingdom;
2.to teach, baptize and nurture new believers;
3.to respond to human need by loving service;
4.to seek to transform the unjust structures of society;
5.to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth

How do we measure up? What can we do

Over two sessions our church gave their feedback for each are under 4 headings:

  • What do we already do? (meaning in the current or past year)
  • What have we done in the past? (meaning any time before that, back in history etc)
  • Is there anything we can stop doing that would help? (the reason for this is so we don’t only have a list of new actions to give the highly stretched organisation we already are)
  • What can we start doing? (can include any ideas from church members or from outside the church

  • The results are shown in this file (click to view)  - this will be enlarged and refined as we go forward and further feedback is asked for
